About the role
Crown Agents has had a representative office in Ethiopia for the last 16 years during which it has been partnering with the Government of Ethiopia to deliver practical and innovative development solutions throughout the nation. We have a wide range of expertise including consultancy, training, procurement, project management and capacity building. Since 2017 we have trained over a thousand employees across the banking sector, tax and customs administration and engineering.
Objective of consultancy
The objective of this consultancy is to undertake is to support the pre-positioning of Crown Agents in Ethiopia to successfully bid on the forecasted USAID opportunities in either a prime or a sub-recipient role.
Scope of Work
The consultant will undertake a piece of desk-based research that will include some stakeholder phone-calls as well as representing Crown Agents a key donor, health cluster and government health meetings to build the brand profile of Crown Agents in health in Ethiopia.
The consultant will undertake analysis on the competitive landscape, health needs and gaps that exist in Ethiopia and make recommendations to Crown Agents on how to successfully pre-position for new health work, specifically, but not exclusively funded by USAID
The consultant will conduct the following specific tasks:
Description of tasks:
Collect relevant data on existing USAID funded health programmes, their performance over time and how they fit into the new forecasted opportunities
Create a database of key health contacts (to include donors, MoH national and regional, INGO (possible partnerships), local organisations) and make introductions for Crown Agents at identified meetings to include the health cluster, possible partner organisations etc
Attend relevant health meetings e.g. health cluster, TWGs, donor meetings to represent and introduce Crown Agents
Work with the Crown Agents Country Director and Global Health Director to create a business winning strategy for health opportunities
- 7-10 years experience working on health programmes in Ethiopia
- Bachelors degree. Master degree preferred
- Proven experience in new business development to include opportunity pipeline building, strategy, proposal writing and budgeting
- Demonstrable experience liaising with key international donors in Ethiopia such as USAID, FCDO, EU, Gavi, World Bank
